US election 2020: Obama calls for end to voter suppression

Image
Media caption Obama: Voting rights being attacked with 'surgical precision' Former US President Barack Obama has sharply criticised what he described as Republican attempts at voter suppression in a speech at civil rights leader John Lewis's funeral. He said people in power were "attacking our voting rights with surgical precision" and called for wide reform. He also decried the police killing of George Floyd and the subsequent use of federal agents against protesters. Lewis died of cancer earlier this month aged 80. He was one of the "Big Six" civil rights leaders, which included Martin Luther King Jr, and helped organise the historic 1963 March on Washington. In a fiery eulogy delivered in Ebeneezer Baptist Church in the city of Atlanta, Mr Obama launched a stinging attack on Donald Trump's administration and some police departments. "Today we witness with our own eyes, police officers kneeling on the necks of black Americans," he said. &

Swimwear created with McDonald's straws and marine plastics   MCDONALD'S In an effort to promote its environmental credentials in Europe–and how it is removing plastic straws in its branches–McDonald’s has created swimwear in its iconic red and yellow striped design from its plastic straws. McDonald’s has  often been criticised for its promotion of throwaway culture  and specifically, its reliance on single use plastics. In 2017, it came under renewed criticism for using plastic straws in its restaurants ( a SumOf Us petition in the U.S. gained nearly 500,000 signatures in protest ). In 2018, the company announced a switch to paper straws in Ireland and the U.K. but ironically, these appeared to be less recyclable than the old plastic straws. A spokesperson for the company  explained to  CNBC   at the time that the straws “cannot currently be processed by waste solution providers or local authorities unless collected separately.” Swimwear created with McDonald's straws and

On Adu Safowaah's Instagram page, she made it clear that, this year will be voting free competition and there will be no audition too. She also stated that the competition will last for only a month. Starting from 7th August - 7th September 2020. Also re
